The Washington Park Residence sits on a feign sitting above Lake Washington and the Cascades. The configuration exploits the site by catching expansive, unhindered perspectives while safeguarding protection.
The configuration investigates the complexity in the middle of mass and straightforwardness with thick, thermally protected solid dividers framing the significant parts of the road veneer. The dividers are layered and tweaked to give deliberately encircled perspectives from west-bound rooms, add profundity and shadow to the veneer, and organize the passage succession through the yard to the front entryway.
Upon section the straightforwardness of the east side of the house is uncovered. The reflecting pool at the east edge of the porch dispenses with the requirement for a railing and consolidations outwardly with the waters of Lake Washington 80′ underneath.
Floor to roof steel confined windows and entryways structure the east dividers, while cast set up cement fireplaces stay the finishes of the real rooms.
The building’s massing mirrors its system with a principle volume lodging the essential living regions of Great Room, Kitchen, and Library. The resting wing, isolated by a glass walled extension, is situated east-west on the south edge of the site. The carport, with flat above, develops west along the north edge to frame the passage courts.
Solid, steel, wood, and stone contain the controlled material palette. The green rooftop mitigates tempest water spillover while the geothermal warming framework diminishes fossil fuel utilization.
