Top Interior Design Trends for 2020 – part II

If there is one way to describe the interior design trends we will see more of in 2020, it’s anything goes. Find out new trends that will help you redesign your dream home.

Feminine Pink Tones

Feminine pink tones were popular in 2019, but the interior design firms are pushing them to another level in 2020. These popular tones: blush, millennial pink, bronze, taupe, and other light pink shades can be mixed with neutral tones in order to soften the look of a traditional room.

Floral Wallpaper

Floral patterns were popular in different moments of history, but 2020 will represent a fresh approach to floral wallpaper. We all remember the old pink flowery wallpaper and furniture in our grandmother’s home and no offense to those traditional design trends, flowers work great on the wallpaper, but we needed a classier approach. Today’s trends in floral patterns incorporate different sizes, color patterns, and even fabrics. Vibrant colors such as yellow and contrasting colors are the new 2020 attraction because they will make your walls pop. All in all, 2020 is an abstract chic rendition of this interior design classic.

Boldy Tiles’ Design

A tile backsplash has a practical purpose: it protects the walls from splatters, but they’ve become so popular because one can choose from so many different patterns. They are a very popular choice for the kitchen and the bathroom. 2020 is all about bold patterned tiles and colors.

Mix Up to 3 Metals in a Room

Metals such as silver, gold, tin, and copper are going to be all over the place in 2020. There are particularly used in the kitchens‘ designs. You may not know how to mix them together. We advise you to contact an interior design firm if you want to avoid clutter and you are not very sure how the metals work together. There are key elements you should respect if you don’t want to make the room too busy and overwhelming: don’t mix more than 3 metals in one room and mix silver with brown metals like iron and gold or bronze.

More is More

Maximalism takes minimalism’s place. Now more is more. Minimalism focuses on simple, straightforward, not too obvious things, while maximalism is the complete opposite. Maximalism is all about the grandeur, being bold and embracing color. Needless to say, interior designers are going to have a field day with this trend. Big, bold, bright colors and patterns, gaudy decor and colorful abstract paintings. There are also limitations. Bold and lively don’t mean busy and cluttered.

Black is Back

Black is back and bigger than ever! Interior design firms predict that “black everything,” from cabinets to sinks, paint, and countertops will be one of the top trends in 2020. Black was longtime avoided because people felt that black makes a room look smaller and claustrophobic, but 2020 interior designs’ trends say black is equivalent to luxury and modernism.

Green Tones

As we said before, this year we are going to be closer to nature and embrace earth tone in our houses. Green accents work great with neutral tones. Invest in rubber plants, money plants or snake plants, they are easy to maintain and they look great. If you want to get in tune with green, you can try leaf-patterned bedding, wallpaper, paintings, or even splashes of solid green decor throughout your home. In 2020 it’s time to be more respectful to nature.
